2020 Supplementary Volunteer Grants
The Australian Government has allocated funding to further support the efforts of Australia's volunteers. The Department of Social Services has provided the following State and Territory volunteering peak bodies with funding to administer a Supplementary Volunteer Grants program:
- The Centre for Volunteering NSW
- Volunteering ACT
- Volunteering Qld
- Volunteering SA/NT
- Volunteering Tasmania
- Volunteering Victoria
- Volunteering WA
Peak volunteering bodies have been selected to disperse small grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to community organisations with a high proportion (over 40 per cent) of volunteers.
The aim of the small grants is to assist organisations to achieve one or more of the following:
- Help support the efforts of Australia's volunteers;
- Help support the inclusion of vulnerable people through volunteering;
- Encourage, support and increase participation in volunteering;
- Re-engage their volunteers as the economy re-opens; and
- Adapt their practices to support their volunteers' safety in relation to coronavirus.
The intended outcome of the grants is to strengthen community functioning by increasing participation in volunteering.
Please note that organisations that received grants under the 2019/ 2020 Volunteer Grant round are not eligible to apply for funding through this round.
The grant opportunity is open from Tuesday 25 August 2020 to 11.59PM AEST 20 September 2020.
